Having a lot of hair can certainly give one a mound when wrapping it into a formal updo.  Jennifer Lopez has her length tightly gathered, then rolled under into this 'muff' of a bun that sits in just the right spot to counter balance, as it should, the imaginary line up diagonally from her chin.
