We threw away those horrid metal curling irons and traded their use for new ceramic ones that give more even heat and less damage.  Alessandra Ambrosio may have vertically curled sections of her hair with said irons or she may have likely used the dry, heat to cool method, both giving more definition to the finished, loose look with little to no frizz.
