Long hair equals feminine, right? But what if you want to keep some hair back from your face? This loosely clipped back style is the perfect compromise. It works well with straight, wavy or curly hair.

To create this look, divide the hair into top and bottom sections. If you have curly hair, divide the hair with a tail comb to get the perfect parting. Secure the top section with a clip. Use hairspray to hold the style in place.

This is a good style for fine hair, as it suits fluffy and floaty locks. Style the hair with large-barreled tongs to create waves, then comb through with a large bristle brush to loosen.

Thicker hair, like our model’s, can be given added edge and texture for a rock chick look. Simply blow dry straight with a thickening spray. When dry, use your fingers to work some gel or wax through the ends. The front of the hair will look great in a fringe, but it can also be pulled fully back from the face.

Finish the style with pretty accessories – vintage is great with this look, try markets or your mother’s dressing up box! And don’t forget earrings – with the hair pulled back behind the ears and the rest of the hair forming a backdrop, long earrings will be shown off to great advantage.
