Your hair would need to be all-one-length and at least half-way down your back. The longer the better.

Hair is banded in the middle of the back of the head. With head down, facing the floor, wrap hair around in a large circle, pinning down to secure as this is the base. Continue wrapping,"loosely", making circles smaller as you go. This is done just like a layer cake on top of the back of your head. Pin here and there securing layers and the top. Spray with hairspray.

In this style, excess on the top layer (or end) was brought up across the top of the "layers". Strings of beads are used as an accent as were small clips for adornment and fastening.
