ha this is an old trick. My mom used to do this when we were little to ake baby shampoo. She said baby shampoo had too much detergent in it.
Yes you should have bigger volume of light sudsing water for scalp rinsing. I would say detangle then with a more intensive product and avoid the scalp with it. That promotes oiliness.
You might want to check how hard your water is.
