Hello hairpin_romance. Welcome to the forum!
Changing hair color from light to dark is always easier than changing it from dark to light. Unless the change is very subtle (2 shades), one MUST bleach dark hair out land then deposit color (toner) back on to desired color change.
For example: let's say someone has medium brown hair and they want to make it golden blonde. You would have to bleach it out LIGHTER than medium blonde, (very light platinum) and then add blonde (golden) toner back into the hair. You see, when you view a color chart or see sample hair swatches, it's all based on the hair being totally bleached out first.
In your case, you are already light (platinum) and so you just need to apply the proper toner to your hair. Just choose the shade you want to be.
I have to say, that I suggest you go seek a professional. You probably guessed I'd suggest this.

When it comes to color, they know best. Please write down the name brand of color (if you did it yourself) or if going to a different salon, find out from old salon the name brand of color they used and the number or name of the color itself. You really shouldn't mix two brand names together as a chemical reaction can occur and you will have results you will not be prepared for.

That's why I suggest going to a
stylist who has experience with color. And giving him or her the brand name (i.e. Loreal, or Clairol) and the name of the color, (i.e. winter wheat 912 or sugar cane 714) will be VERY helpful as well.
Good luck and please let me know how you make out.
