I think you've done a great job picking this style for yourself on this, the first time you've decided to pick out a hairstyle.
I always suggest that people take the pictures with them to the stylist to make certain that everyone is clear in communicating what style is wanted.
To tell someone what this style is like, it is layered in a textured way, keeping the length you have along the ears, just layered in closer. The length itself looks about the same along the front too, just chunky layers done (razor cut). Cannot see the back yet suspect it is a little longer than ears and natural hairline with a longer layer than, traditional, standard haircuts.
Your hair in the front looks heavy and not really layered. Cannot really see it as the pic is a bit dark. Layering your hair like this pic is going to really lighten the look of your style, allowing it to be somewhat full on the top. This will be great for you as your face type will benefit from some height.
