WELCOME TheAce!!!

High humidty. Don't you just hate that! I live in a HH area too. It makes curly hair curlier and straight hair stick out and everyone have frizzies.

I don't know how to break this to you other than just coming right out and saying it. Seriously think that chemically straightening you hair would be a waste of time.
1, I bet it grows fast
2. You hair probably will cut as much as it grows; therefore all waste of time
3. You shouldn't use chemical straightening (relaxers) unless you have serious issues. i.e. exremely nappy, curly hair.
4. They are VERY harsh on hair and will dry it out quickly; especially caucasian hair. Black hair is stronger and can withstand it better. And the person using the product HAS to have experience or you will lose your hair.

So now, that I've scared you to death. LOL I want to suggest this. The emo style will look great on you. Go and buy yourself an electric comb...yes you read that right. (sorry this pic isn't the best...it's just for you to get an idea of what I'm talking about). The heat redefines your hairstyle in the opposite way ladies use curling irons to get curl. You plug it in and in a few moments, you've got the straight hair you want..or you CAN choose to implement a few messy strands...all in a straight way, of course. The back of the comb helps the hair to straight out and down from underneath and rolled under will give you lots of lift OR just be a tool to guide those neat razored points in the directions you want them.

Then I would use Garnier "Shake effect" (which is like gel for dry hair that dries a little stiff so use SPARINGLY) or hair wax or product of choice to "seal" the ends against humidty so no frizz or change will occur from the elements.

Have them show you how the hot comb (electric comb) works in the salon you visit for the haircut. I think you will find it to be easy and a whole lot better approach to your needs! GOOD LUCK!!!
