I understand, and you're right. It probably would take an artistic cometologist to look at a Victorian style and apply it with modern flair. However, if he/she can pull this off, it wouldn't present itself as "costumish" if it were worn to the right occasion such as a formal, a wedding or even church. It could look quite elegant with some Victorian inspired skirts and dresses.
Remind me to find a good Victorian style and I'll see what changes I might make to get it more modern.
