Yes, this is true. Even though you may be covering up the gray, let's face it, it keeps growing back out and the best solution for it is camouflage. Darker hair is going to show it up more by making for a better contrast saying, look at me, I have gray hair. lol

Lightening or darkening your hair depends on how old is older. Depending on how well you are aging, usually I don't suggest getting away from darker colors until wrinkles and other aging factors start to set in. The darker shades put an emphasis on the harshness that may be showing up on one's face. Multi-tonal and lighter shades soften the facial features.
