I've never pinned back my hair when I go to sleep. I see a lot of TV sitcoms where they show women going to be who have their hair pulled back, or they show a scene where they pull back their hair for bed.
I would think a braid would be painful to sleep on. I guess if you get use to it. I remember getting my ears pierced and how weird it was to sleep with earrings on.
