Default What about stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood?

Does anyone remember Veronica Lake, with her famous ***kaboo hairstyle?

Default Do you mean THIS "***kaboo" style?

Betty, do you mean this "***kaboo'" style?

Oh, and speaking of Veronica Lake, I once saw a photo of her in a LIFE book about World War II; she was featured in a "Do's and Don't's" article about women in war factories and one of the don't's was operating machinery with long hair loose. Miss Lake was posed as though her hair (again covering one eye) was caught in the workings of a thingamajig.

By the way, at the time she was a hottie.

Yeah. I remember her from my dad's stash of Hollywood Confidential magazines. Had great blonde locks....but I have never watched her movies.

Looks cute for a dame from the Forties.

Dame? Ha ha! Now that is an outdated term.

Yes. That is the style I was talking about. A ***kaboo.

I really liked this style of Veronica Lake so much the name stuck with me and I didn't realize why until I came back to the forum. Thanks! This is an inspiration to me and I featured her with a modern celeb. Check out the main page.

or if it is no longer on the home page, here's the link

The pics of Katharine and Veronica are still on the home page. That was great, Toni...and I was happy to have collaborated, in some small fashion, with Betty in getting this thread going.

(To Betty: We rock!)

Glad I was able to inspire you...it's so much fun to be part of the forum!

Like the way you did the double-***kaboo photo feature with Katharine and Veronica. Way cool.

I remember reading somewhere that Veronica used pin curls. They're quite awkward to do at first but with a little bit of practice you will get better at them.

When I was a teenager, I used to let my hair cover one side of my face. My parents were always calling me Veronica. It was some time before I knew what or who they were talking about.

And yes, her beauty would still stand out today
