Default need color help-please

Please give me some advice. I tried to color my hair at home with a "golden brown" color. My hair is originally light brown. My hair turned out yellow-orange. I called the company who made the color and they said to put a light ash brown on it, but that just made it red. Now I have this horrid reddish-orange color. I am scared to do anything else to it. I just want a normal light brown color. My mom said to use a temporary medium brown color over it until it grows out. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Anything with ash in the color will bring out red. I would suggest that you give your hair some time to recover, and have a professional fix it. Other than that, I don't know what color to suggest to fix it...

Hi Bedhead,

Am so sorry you were steered into the wrong direction twice. Bless your heart!!!

I do agree with JoJo. You have used at home products Twice now. Give your hair a week or two to recuperate and take your mother's advice with some brown to dark brown temporary rinses until a professional can do something for it. I know what you need, but hesitate telling you as I don't advise you trying anything else at home.
Be certain to write down the names of the brands and names of the colors used and how long you left it in if you can possibly remember. Taking a (good lighting) picture of you with your natural hair color prior to your coloring it will help too.
And don't be embarrassed. It happens all the time!!! Honestly. Cosmetologists are there for your hair like mechanics are there for our cars. Sometimes we just need a little TLC !

Thanks for the advice! It has actually been about a month and a half now and my hair has grown out about an inch so it looks orange on the bottom and brown on top, butit looks a lot darker brown that it really is because it is against the orange color. The people at Clairol said the ash would cover up the red, but it brough tit out more.
