Default I need a color reccomendation

Ive been blonde my whole life. When I was a child I had naturally plaitnum blonde hair, and as I aged it started to get darker and darker. I started getting blonde highlights at the salon, which over the years added up to basically having highlights all over, making my hair appear to be a medium blonde. The natural color, as I can see from the re-growth, looks to be a dark blonde/light brown, but i really cant tell. (isnt it sad i dont know the natural color?)

Im starting to get tired of the blonde and am thinking about going into the brown family. I should tell you my skin is light, not pasty/fair, with a pinkish tone, and i dont think it would qualify as porcelin. I still have some color left from the summer sun. My eyes are a unique blue/green, and they change depending on what Im wearing. Id love a color that makes my eyes stand out since i love their color.

I'm actually nervous to change, this is who i've been my whole life. For this reason is part of why i'd like to change. I dont want to start out going 'dark' but maybe something a little more flattering? i'm really looking for that perfect color to ask my stylist about.

thanks everyone

Hey Corrinne, I want to welcome you to the hair forum.

I can certainly appreciate your situation. And so you know, it's common for young children who have platinum blonde hair, have it turn dark as they go into adolescence and adulthood. For many reasons, those same folks naturally turn to blonde highlights and blonde shades all overf.

I would imagine your natural hair color is an ash shade and stylists have instinctively picked up on this to be lightened into those blondes.

The first thing for you to ****yze would be your most compatible colors. Are you in harmony with warm colors, oranges, yellows, orange based reds, browns and all those earth tones? Or are you more suited to the cool colors such as blues, purples, and pinks (I know you said your skin tone was pink). Many times blondes can go either way. And I would guess that these two color chart differences determine your eye color.

Just so you know, green is a neutral color.

So if you aren't into or compatible with warm colors, than auburn shades would be out. And though this is extreme, it makes a point. Should cool colors not be complimenting, black with a blue tint would be a mistake.

I hope you see where I am going with this. And sometimes your color is dictated by the density and length of your hair too. So many factors to consider. No wonder we ladies have such a time making the right decision? LOL

Though I've not given you a direct answer, I hope you feel better knowing that it isn't easy to decide and there's some things to learn in determining your best, next move.

Personally, when I decide to make a definite change, I will be consulting the Virtual Hairstyling websites featured on our main page.

Stellure is back and it's a definite consideration. I belong as a member and can tell you the membership is worth it. I was skeptical at the thought of a Three Dimensional model of "me". Yet with two to three pictures taken as they instruct, I had my model ready within hours. I can click myself into specific celebrity hairstyles, click I'm a redhead, click change the cut, click try this cut as a brunette and on and on. Even with dialup, it moves fast to allow you to see YOU in 3D amazement as to what styles, cuts AND the colors you want to try on yourself.

And you can print out all the styles, from all the angles you want to take to your stylist!!!

Sorry, I am excited about how technology has advanced like this to help us ladies get our best looks without making critical mistakes.

Brown is hard to do after being blonde. i have told clients this before but they fall in love with how it looks in magazines. You need to see if your skin can stand up to the contrast and if you can handle the focus taken off your hair.

Conditioning does get easier, because darker hair reflect more light under lights for photography and can be conditioned better when not so processed as blonde.

Look before you leap.

Thank you both, I appresheate the help! Ive been debating a long time about a change, but havnt had the guts (or ideas) to do it.

I think the best thing for me is to take my questions and concerns to my stylist, and see what she thinks would be best with my skin. such a hard decision!

Choose colors that complement your skin tone. Decide first if you look best with changing your hair color entirely or just play with highlights.

Try to match your skin color with the color you wanna to here-> www.virtualhairstyler.net

You can upload your photo and try the suit color which match your skin color best.
