I read somewhere that using the Dawn dish soap can seriously dry out your hair, so I would think if you decide to do that, it would be a good idea to deep condition after.

Oh yes, I wouldn't recommend using it at all because of the long-term effects once you have exposed your hair to this harshness.

However, for those of you that insist on DIY color removal, condition it before AND after. Rinse it with cool water and put leave-in conditioner in it as well.
