long hair color?

So i have long hair, like down to the middle of my back. Its like a dark brown.
I've only ever highlighted it and im kinda getting bored...i want to do something dramatic and i was thinking like black with some accent color. Idk if i want to do purple or lime green or something else.

I was looking at pics online and all i saw was shorter, edgier cuts with colors like that. Is it a bad idea to do these colors with long hair? i don't want to lose my length really

You can always get a pic taken of yourself and upload it to your own computer or have someone else put it on their PC. Print it on regular printer paper having a couple of smaller pics on same page. Then streak the pics with colored Sharpies to show your stylist how and where you want them. : D Just an idea.

I love pics as that way the client and I are on the same page as to what they want. Am sure all stylists do.

Most beauty supply stores have hair extensions and this means you can buy them in great colors too. It would be a small section of artificial hair (in colors, real hair would cost too much) with a little comb on the end to place and hide up into your own hairstyle. Now I know what you're probably thinking and I gotta tell you, I wouldn't want to wear them myself for fear of them coming out. However, they are pretty inexpensive and a great way to see how you like the color in your hair. Besides, anyone who knows how to do extensions can make them really stay in. It would be temporary, yes, just to give you an idea, yet it would be fun and more than likely there will be someone around who will want to try them on too!

I would be careful with purple my sister tried it one time and it came out gray
