The elements are always against us. Humidity, dampness, RAIN! Any of these will ruin attempts like this. Keep experimenting with different products. Mouse can work on dry days for some styles, while mud may be needed in other climates. I think it's all about learning your hair from experimenting what works in what weather.

Sorry it was just temporary.

To get my long hair to hold a curl in humid weather, I start with bone-dry hair, section it off and, with a fairly strong hold gel (The thick stuff, NOT the spray kind) run about a quarter size dab down the length of each lock before rolling in on hot rollers. When the whole thing is rolled, I spray it all with hair spray (in the rollers) then give it a shot from the blow-dryer. Then I leave the rollers in for a minimum of 1 hour. It is important that the hair be COLD by the time you un-roll it. This is what I do when I am performing- not ffor everyday. For less rigourous activities you probably wouldn't need to go quite so heavy duty,, but hot-rollers rock because you can leave them in a lot longer than a curling iron. I've also had good luck sleeping in braids with little rollers on the ends for a more natural look. The trick is you want your hair mostly dry, then put a little product in in when you braid, braid quickley WHILE THE PRODUCT is still wet, then leave it alone till dry (I've found the heater in my car on high works great )

This is great!!!!!! Thank you for telling us what works for you. This is proof that it takes experimenting to see what works best for your hair type, density, curl support, etc. And yes, I totally agree that hot rollers are better to lock in the curl. However, you DO have to have the time to allow them to do their magic, you're right. Leaving them in until cold is best.

I can picture the celebs when they get their 'star treatment' sitting there in hot rollers while they get their facials, waxings, mani/pedi, and makeup done.

Oh and Opheliarose, WELCOME!!!

Thanks, Toni!

Well, I'm usually doing evening performances, so I can start my hair around 3 oclock. Not the best for on your way to the office!

I've also gotten really comfortable going out in public in my rollers. I'm sure I'll end up in Glamour-dont's some day with a black bar over my eyes

Toni,

I live in AZ so I don't have a problem with the humidity. There's a new type of mousse that I am going to try, my sister told me about this "extra hold" mousse that she uses by Tigi (I think that's the brand name?) and she said it works well with her hair when she curls it. Her hair is similiar to mine so I'm going to give it a try.
