I read online a while back that there are certain shampoos that combine hormones that are causing possible early puberty in girls. I think the shampoos are mostly for African Americans. Has anyone else heard about this?

Sounds like nonsense to me. But I did a search and did find evidence. But the evidence I found is largely outdated. So I'm not going to put a lot of stock in it.

I have never heard of this before!! I hope it's not true, my daughter is only in 4th grade and she has classmates that are already wearing bras. She's not anywhere close to puberty and I want to keep it that way until nature takes its course.

I have never heard of this either. I know girls today are reaching puberty a lot faster than several years ago but didn't know that shampoo could possibly bring it on early. I hope not either. What in shampoo could make this happen? Probably is true, god knows I have heard stranger things that are true.

Are there really hormones in shampoos? I never heard of that myself. Wouldn't you have to digest it to actually cause early puberty in young girls?

I had never heard of this either but like Patti, I did a little research but found mostly outdated studies. It did say that the shampoos were more treatments for brittle hair and were marked that the products contained estrogen.
