I don't like my hair loose when I sleep. I never have. It doesn't matter how long it is, I want it pinned back. I like it braided or pulled back in a ponytail using a Goody ouchless band. Is this OK for hair?

I've never pinned back my hair when I go to sleep. I see a lot of TV sitcoms where they show women going to be who have their hair pulled back, or they show a scene where they pull back their hair for bed.
I would think a braid would be painful to sleep on. I guess if you get use to it. I remember getting my ears pierced and how weird it was to sleep with earrings on. |

I always leave my hair down when I sleep, because it is so uncomfortable. I don't thing braiding your hair would damage it while you sleep as long as the braid is not to tight. Try spritzing your hair before you braid it next time for a nice wave!

I think it is fine to tie up your hair when you sleep as long as you don't make it really tight. I can't sleep with my hair tied up because it hurts to lay on it.

I usually take a bath in the evening and either blow dry it or comb it and let it dry then go to bed. I find if I tie it loosely that is fine. I don't want a mark left because I rarely get time in the morning to do my hair so I do it before I go to bed.

Anything that your hair can, and does, get tangled up in will cause breakage. Broken hair strands will split and get split ends whose only remedy will be cutting the damaged area off.

I didn't know rubber bands were bad for your hair. I use them a lot at my job. It gets so hot, so I have to improvise. Sometimes I get bored and do small braids and hold them with rubber bands. Guess I need to stop that practice.

My aunt has long hair and pulls hers up in some sort of bun thing but with a barrette. The barrette was absolutely huge I have no dea how she slept in it. I guess it was better than sleeping with long hair getting tangled up at night. She had it down to a science too. Would take like 2 seconds to flip her hair up in that thing.

Thank you everyone! Oh if only I could wash my hair at night, braid it damp, and then have nice waves in the morning. My bangs do very funny things, though. LOL! I might try it anyway. My hair may have gotten over it.
Oh yes, never use real rubber bands. ouch! Even covered hair bands pull. These Goody ouchless ones are great!
