Default Chlorine and Blond Hair

I don't have blond hair but my daughter does and was wondering if it is true that chlorine turns blond hair green? I heard this long ago but because I have dark hair I never experienced it. So first will chlorine from a pool turn blond hair colors and second what to do about it either before it happens or after it does?

I know my sister-in-law had her hair turn green(more like a green tint) from too much chlorine. I'm not sure what she did to get it out of her hair. I know they switched from putting chlorine in their pool to an non-chlorine alternative.

That's interesting to know! I thought it was the chemicals used to make blonde hair that would turn it green? Learn something new every day. I'm sure you can buy stuff in the salon that will wash away the green. I knew a guy whose blonde hair turned red from the rust in his water. He bought some stuff, I think it was by Matrixx? And it washed right out!!

Default Shampoos for Chlorinated and other Discolored Hair

Hi everyone,

You are quite right. There are shampoos out there to help your hair with various problems from rust, iron from well water to chlorine from lots of swimming. Once you have a lot of any of these things in your hair, you have to shampoo with the special shampoo mutiple times according to directions. Then, since iit's good to switch around the shampoos, you can use them once or twice a week for maintenance to prevent the discolorations from reoccuring.

Check your local beauty supply store or your favorite salon for the products.

I don't see this as much with medium blonde, naturally blonde hair, but with colored blonde or really white blone hair, I see it a lot. My friend had green streaks in her hair all the time when we were grwoing up. I think the shampoos do help though.
