I love to have my hair French braided. I have tried several times to do it myself with mixed success. I can French braid others people's hair somewhat OK. How can I improve my technique for doing my own hair? Just keep practicing?

I have a friend that can do her own french braid and an inverted french braid. I am practicing so I can do my daughters hair that way too. My mom used to do mine but I can't do my own myself. I will have to get some books or look on the web and start practicing now so I can be a professional by the time my daughter is ready to have hers done.

Practice, practice, practice. I taught myself how to French braid on my dolls just from thinking of what a French braid looks like. Then I taught myself how to braid my own hair when I was bored in the back seat of the car. It looked horrible. And looked horrible for a long time. And then it didn't anymore. I did French braids and Dutch braids and variations on both. I had so much fun and sometimes embellished them with cute clips and things.

It is really hard to french braid it yourself and get it right. I always have to get a friend to do mine, but she does her own and it always looks great on her.
