I love my 1 year old son's hair, its so soft and pretty. And I've always been a fan of long hair on guys, so naturally, I want to let his grow out long. But his hair is constantly in his eyes. Any suggestions?

Hello Silvermoon and welcome to the forum,
Yes, babies are so precious and we love to style their hair to make them more adorable. I was the same way with my son's hair. The oldest had curly hair and I let it grow a little. Despite his masculine attire, people would still ask me what gender he was! So good luck. ![]() Baby hair is not too different than anyone else's hair. It is more fine of course, and on a scalp that's sensitive, that's the difference. I would suggest you take him to the shop to get him used to someone messing with his hair. All babies should go do this even if he/she gets only one snipping done. They have to get accustomed to the ritual. In your case, I am suggesting this also to be sure that his hair is even in its layering. It will lay a lot better if it is in "shape". All hair does. This will help you to control it more when you comb/brush it into place. And if it is Also, there are mild products you can discuss with the stylist. Otherwise, use a little baby lotion. And I do mean a "little". Rub it between your fingers and 'finger comb' his hair into place. This will help it stay. When it dries, comb the dried lotion out. We bathe our little ones everyday and their oil glands don't become active until their adolescent years so their fine hair is quite flyaway. It's just like using a little gel only it's baby lotion that we know is safe for use on their delicate skin. Keep it away from his eyes as I fear you are letting his bangs grow out. Make sure you only apply the lotioned fingers near the root in this case. Like anyone growing bangs out, it's a process to be endured. You may want to let his hair grow but keep some shorter hair around his face. Again, a stylist can give him a cut you should love and yet allow it to grow out all over besides around his face. Again, good luck! Let me know how you make out. =)

Well, I'm not much on snails, but on snips I can tell you that it's alright to allow his hair to grow and still keep those (bangs) out of his eyes by keeping them trimmed above the eyebrows. Not too short mind you as it would definitely look out of sync with the longer style. When they are little like this tyke, you just cannot guarantee longer hair (around face) to stay out of their eyes. Simply keep it feathered around the face to help it stay in place and comb it into that place while it is wet. If he will allow you to do so, spritz a little hairspray on the dried hairstyle where you want it stay. Only if he will cooperate otherwise it isn't worth the fight. After the hairspray is good and dry, comb the hair again to keep it looking natural.
Remember to use hairspray that doesn't dry stiff. We want to keep his hair soft and supple like a baby.
