Ok I have really long hair, a bit further than halfway down my back. I straighten it but it usually doesn't stay that way all day. It usually gets static and I do use serums but none of them really work. Is there anything that will actually work?

Hello Preethi and WELCOME to the forum!!!
With colder weather moving in, this problem increases and can be a real problem in an office setting when ambulating across many carpeted areas. The one neat trick I like to pass along to folks with long hair to combat this problem, is to keep a (small) hairbrush handy with a small container of hair spray. Spritz the brush and simply brush your hair. It's not enough hairspray to present any refusals from those who don't care for it. And if you use good salon spray (it does come in small, affordable bottles), it takes a lot of spray to produce any stiffness. It is formulated to generally eliminate that problem. Try it. It really works for that annoying static. And some people do the same thing with commercial static products for clothes. Just depends on what you would rather brush on your hair.

Oh thanks. To tell you the truth I'm not exactly a fan of hairspray because it makes my hair sticky and sometimes stiff. I might try it though... I guess you just have to look for a good one.
I usually carry a small brush around though, just to keep it looking straight and not frizzy but with the cold weather coming on, the brush might make my hair a bit more static so I'll have to see about that. Thanks though. I'll try the hairspray. |

As I said, the hairspray doesn't affect the hair as if it were directly sprayed so even those who are not fond of hairspray won't mind this trick.
And yes, the job is always easier when the right tools are used. So when hairspray is needed to use on a style, professional sprays are better. No one would like hairspray if we all had to depend on some of the cheap store brands, though there are some of those that are pretty good too.
