Hey there, I'm in my young 20's, thick straight brown hair. I buzzed it off, and rocked short buzzcut for a long time, but now I'm growing it out. My hair doesn't grow very quickly, and at this state, it's about an inch long, and stands up all around and looks super-dorky. What can I do to make it not look so silly, while still allowing it to get the length.
PS- I'm not at all afraid of anything edgy (I'd almost prefer it?). Point being, I'll take any suggestions.. Thanks! |

Hi there pih! and welcome!
My first instinct would be to suggest you get a texture cut on the top. (a pro would cut into it making the hair appear "choppy" on top. This area would continue to stand up and you could have it do so uniformly all over, or use product to control that the front edge stand up more so or that it would only be the center that stands up the most. Whatever you play with it and make it do. When I say product, there are great gels and waxes (always use very sparingly though) out there. Then the pro should buzz cut the sides and at least some of the back. Not completely off, just enough to make it stop sticking out. You can now be working towards something like this. Nick Carter It's going to take a few trips to the "barber" or salon now to get this cut from those who are trained to make it happen. It sounds like you have very strong, thick hair and you'd be surprised at all the things you can do with it. When it grows out more, there will be lots of styles you can make happen. Take this post and this picture as well as any other picture you might find with you to better communicate what you want done with your style. Good luck!
