I have curly hair which turns froey and nappy as it gets longer. I like to have it a bit longer only not so its froey. Sometimes it ends up looking like I've been swimming in the ocean and the salt and sand keep it controlled, yet natural looking. I've had enough of gels, pomeades and pastes which just end up making my hair into a greasy fro. How can I get the controlled look, natural look?
Thanks |

Hey Groovy Forehead,
Like that name! I can imagine that you do have a greasy look from all those products. Products CAN be a great thing, just not TOO much of them! Best thing for curls and avoiding the frizz and fro is to remember to apply products sparingly ONLY to the ends. If you apply a product too soon after shampooing, and you don't have the hair type that dries quickly, chances are your hair is too wet and just waters down the product. The natural reaction people have to this is to apply more. ![]() Wait until hair is only DAMP, rub a little bit of product between your hands and start grabbing your ends all over. Grab one section, leaving a little product, let go and go to another area and so forth. This method is especially necessary for a product I'm about to ask you if you've tried, specifically for your hair type. Hair wax. I personally prefer the spray kind found in salons and beauty supply stores, though Garnier makes some that's not too bad, depending on your tastes. This will give a little weight and more definition to curls, definitely taming any frizzies. Warning, you shouldn't reapply it the next day to your hair for styling as it will get too weighted and dirty looking. Try a little spritz of water to reactivate it instead. Let me know how this works for you.
