I have a back angled bob; the front is the longest at about an inch passed my chin, but the sides are pretty long as well without any layers (think Victoria Beckham or Rhianna). I fell in love with this style but I'm unsure how to achieve it. My hair would probably need to be cut a bit shorter to get the whispyness, but how much shorter? Many varying layers, perhaps? Also, my hair is relatively thick. Would this present a problem? Are there any products/techniques to counter this? Aside from the thickness and length, what would be some general styling tips to get this particular look? Thanks for your attention! Edit: If someone could supply a picture to get a general idea of what this person's hair might look like straight (ie: length) that would also be fantastic. |

Hello Aubreda!
Welcome to our forum!!!!! Thank you for your post and questions. I'm sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to you. Yes, you could make the front (sides) look similar to this style. Note the shortest layer appears to be right there at eye level on her. And I like how it's messy with a blow dry and product. The fringe (bangs) are heavy though and parted off from the rest of the look, not tapered, feathered or layered at all. They are separate and all one length and they look to be at least to the tip of her nose when combed straight down. However, they are probably tapered from one side to another, in other words, longer on the side they are combed away from so they sweep nicely across and stay in place. On her, that longer side would be her left side so they sweep to the right. ![]() Now I say that your style will look similar. Here's the big difference. Note the bottom length that goes around her neck towards the back. I'm guessing this is the area where your style starts to go short??? Your longest length would rather be on the front sides and taper around to the back for now until those side back sections grew out. Yet you could definitely have the sides looking like this pic, it's just that the length would be in the front sides not the back sides. Does this make sense? I hope I am explaining it alright! And your shorter back could be blended right into the front by a good stylist. As for a picture. Hmmmm. I can tell you the length is going to hit, on this model at least, right on or right above her shoulders. See it depends on how long your neck is. Yours (length) now would be no longer than just below your chin and to strive for this exact look is to adapt it to your features. ![]() Ellen Page
Ellen does not have layering and her hair is fine so her bangs are going to hang different, yet this is similar to what this style would look like flatiron straight. (a tad longer too) It's hard to find a pic of the exact hair type, cut, etc. However, if I come across one, I will come back here and post it for you! Good luck and let me know how you make out!
