Default (Guy) Oil/grease for my dry frizzy hair?

I've realized that my hair looks the best and least frizzy toward the end of the day when my natural oil starts to come out.

So basically, is there any heavy-duty straight up oil or grease I can throw into my hair each day? I know a lot of people are usually trying to get their hair to NOT be greasy, but I'm quite the opposite.

What can I do?

Hey eveningninja!
Welcome to the forum!!!!

I know exactly what you're saying as I had that problem and still do, yet I know what to do about it now.

I wouldn't put any product up close to the scalp as, like you say, those natural oils will come out and they're usually enough. So we don't want to do anything to help make our hair look dirty as it gets that way fast enough! right?

For the anti-frizz look, I squirt out a little puddle of "smoothing serum" into the palms of my hands, spread it around a bit and then start grabbing my DAMP (not quite dry) ends with this product. Wash hands directly after. Comb and then make sure this comb is only used for this step.

Smoothing serum is a product that helps take flyaways and acts as a heat protectant too when using a blow dryer. (or other heated appliances that ladies use) You'll find it at beauty supply stores or salons. If you cannot find it, try a little spray hair wax, following the directions. Garnier Fructis has some on the shelves of your favorite stores.

Good luck. Just experiment with how much or how little, KEEP those products away from your scalp, and let me know how it goes!!!

No, I know that. I use anti-frizz smoothing serum when my hair is damp after coming out of the shower, but once my hair dries it's still kind of dry and uncontrollable.

Here's a pic of how oiled/greased I would want my hair, and probably even more than this: http://www.crazy-media.de/bilder/mus...er/screen2.jpg

Is there actual straight-up oil that people put in their hair?

That is a special haircut where he has those separate tendrils he has probably used the serum on his DRY hair specifically targeting them and laying them down. It's fairly greasy if you use it on your dry hair as there is no dampness to water it down.

In the stores there's Alberto VO5 on the shelves or any number of black hair products. I would recommend a spray "rejuvenator" in the black hair care. I have used that myself when I had really curly perms to keep them frizz free and defined. I guarantee if you spray any of that on your dry hair, you'll know it's greasy. Use a little at first and spray a little more as you get used to it.

Let me know how it goes.

Okay, so far I've gotten that it's generally best to apply hair serum when the hair is dry so that the water doesn't dampen the effectiveness of the product.

Next, I've gotten that Alberto VO5 and a spray called "Rejuvenator" are excellent anti-frizz products. Where can I get either of these two? I'm interested.

Thanks so far for your help.

Alberto VO5 and any brand Rejuvenator can definitely be found in any drug store or any department store that ends in 'mart' or a store similar. You probably could also find a hair serum product over the counter in these type of stores as well.

Hair smoothing serums and rejuvenators can certainly be found in salons or beauty supply stores.

Have fun! : )

Alright sweet thanks. So, which of the two would you recommend? Along with maybe a good volumizer to go along with it?

Sure if you need volume, that's definitely the way to go!

I would recommend the serum as you can direct the ends where you want them better.

Hm, I think I wasn't clear in my question.

Which of the Alberto (or Rejuvenator) do you recommend for anti-frizz purposes? And is there a good volumizer you recommend? If so, what's it called and can it also be bought at any local store such as wal-mart?

Hello again eveningninja,

Thanks for clarifying. Am so sorry I misunderstood. I apologize for how long this is. In the end, I give my ultimate advice. However, you can try the following over the counter remedies for your situation. I do wish you the best in your ventures and most of all, have fun experimenting!!!

My favorite volumizer is Matrix brand "Amplify" Foam Volumizer. It gives great hold and volume which can be applied to wet or dry hair. Naturally, it will water down according to how much moisture is in your hair and therefore gives different levels of performance. One should experiment, though it is always recommended that hair never be dripping, yet towel dried. Amplify also makes a root lifter if you specifically want to target lift off the scalp to prevent the "flat" look. Amplify is sold in salons and beauty supply stores.

There are some volumizers in department (local) stores that Garnier or John Frieda both make. Both of these brand names are good product lines for hair care.

Between the Alberto VO5 or Rejuvenator. The V05 is a hair dressing like gel that is somewhat greasy especially the more you use. You would rub this on your ends only! Take care not to use too much and it's a great way to grease it up. This is my preference for what you are trying to achieve so you have control of the conditioning. Are you wanting to use volumizer on just the root area? Please be aware that any "greasy" product or over conditioning on the ends is going to defeat the purpose of all over volumizing. (also know that greasy products do nothing to improve hair's condition, they just stay on top and gloss over things)

The rejuvenator is spray on and it's equivalent to spraying on hair grease. It can be quite greasy indeed, as it's so easy to spray more than needed. I don't recall any special brand right this moment, however, you can find plenty in the black hair care section of any local store. It is 'cheap' enough to buy and try.
VO5 is going to cost more. Haven't bought it in many years so don't know the cost. It is found anywhere too.

Keep in mind the more product you put on your ends, the more it is going to weigh it down. If you want volume, than indeed concentrate on your roots for that. Personally, I would suggest a one time visit to the salon. Take that picture and have them cut your hair like it is or close to it. (if that is the exact look you want). But mainly, ask them to wash and blow dry your hair, showing you the products you need for your hair. I have not seen your hair type, yet think I may suggest, a root lifter for you and hair serum for the ends. (sorry I'm back to the serum...it's better for smoothing ends without too much of a greasy feel)

This one trip to the salon could educate you and find you styling your hair quickly every day just the way you really like it.
