Time for a change! - opinions please!

Hi all,

I have been wanting to change my hairstyle of a while now, I have always had pretty short 'Standard' Cuts but think its time for somthing different ! I have grown my hair in the past with a view to 'doing somthing with it' but then always just gone back to my usual style...

I have recently just let my hair grow again and have been looking round for a new style.

I have attached some recent pics to give you an idea of what my hair is at the moment also attached a couple of images of what im trying to achive...

Firstly do you think my hair is long enough and secondly to you think it will be easy enough to re - create this style?

I really like the idea of a 'Choppy' cut with lots of different lengths....

I have a hair app. on Saturday so im going to take these pictures in with me.

I would be greatful for any Opinions or any advice...

WELCOME to the forum! Thank you for seeking us for some advice!

I don't know who may come to post before your Saturday appointment, yet I as a Cosmetologist and the forum moderator wanted to give you some friendly, professional advice.

It's hard to be 100% sure, though your personal pics were most helpful, TY!, yet it seems you are almost there! That is, for your style to look just like these other guys. From what I can tell, you need a "little" more length in the back and in the crown area. The sides seem good. In fact, they will probably take a little off there. They can start your look with the choppy effect on top though it may be a little shorter than you'd like since it needs to grow out a bit. Just be patient. The top front along the hair line looks like it's about there though.

If you and your stylist decide to trim up the sides to clean it up a bit and wait until next time to do the look, that may be best. Or he/she may start the front top in that manner. That's a decision best made up close and personal!

Good for you taking these pics! I always tell people to do this. It's such a great idea so everyone will be on the same page and no break down in communication should occur that may result in a style you didn't want.

Thanks for such a quick reply!

What you have told me is very helpful so thankyou, I agree with you that I made need a little more length before I can get the exact look it want (Im just so inpatient! haha.) but like you say we should beable to make a good start on it and let my hair grow in to the style.

The whole taking pictures into the salon isn't somthing I have done before but the amount of times I have gone in and tried to discribe how I want my hair only to come out disapoined is really annoying so think it is the best option.

If im happy with it I will post a pic up to let you see how it went!

You're so right about how long it takes to explain what you want and then you end up without the style you wanted. A picture is always worth a thousand words! Whoever wrote that originally was brilliant!
