Default Balding men

My husband is getting pretty thin on top, and he had always had longer hair. He never did the "comb over" , but it you could tell it was time for a new "DO". I finally talked him into getting shaved. He was pretty nervous at first, but now he loves it! I think when you are balding, this is pretty much the best you can do except do the "comb over".

My fiance went for a haircut once, and what they described was similar to his brother's cut: trimmed, but longer in front do that that flippy thing. They ended up shaving it all off... I have to be honest, I really hated it.

That has nothing to do with him balding, because he's not, this post just made me think of that.

I've seen on makeover shows where they make men with thinning hair look like they have more simply with a new style or hair color, so I think sometimes it can be done without shaving it all off.

Luckily, my husband is blessed with great, thick hair, and looking at his father, I don't think he will have a problem with thinning hair. Some men do look better when they just shave it all off. I hate when anyone tries the comb over... it looks far too obvious and just bad.

My husband once called to say that he'd gotten a haircut. Yay! (I try to really encourage that activity.) And that they'd cut it really short. OK. Practically shaved it. I'm sure it's darling. And it was. He was so cute! Then a visit to my granddad (a mean ornery individual) assured that DH would practically never get another hair cut. GD pointed out that DH is getting a little thin on top. Well I don't think so. I think his hair is still very thick. Darn GD!

Default Balding

A few things about balding I wanted to share with you guys.

I was trained as a cosmetologist that balding came from the mother's side of the family. And it has proven itself true many times over. Want to know if a guy has a chance of going bald? Look at his mother's side of the family. Her dad, or her grandfather.

Another thing that encourages balding. Hats. These guys that wear caps 24/7 and don't comb their hair much are asking for it. No air, no sun, no scalp stimulation with a brush regularly and anyone's hair would slow or stop.

Beware of those center parts too. They can start "widening" on either gender. Best thing to do with a part is to brush your hair straight back everyday and move that part around a little from time to time.

I remember buying some stuff for my husband that was suppose to make his hair grow. He ended up growing one hair right in the middle of his forehead! LOL I have to agree about men wearing hats and causing baldness, your folicles need to breath!

Lol, isn't that odd? Actually, as a teen, I always had this one stray hair in the middle of my forehead. I thought it was ridiculous, and I kept pulling it out. It kept growing back until a few years ago... Has nothing to do with balding men, but your post reminded me of that! Lol.

I think bald men are ***y. I would much rather my husband just go bald thatn try to do the comb over thing. That looks silly most of the time. I mean it is not hiding the fact that they are going bald, so what's the point?

You are right Toni! My hubby is bald and it comes from his mothers side. Her father was bald at an early age! It also skips siblings. Unfortunatly my husband was the first born started losing his hair in his late 20's. His brother (3rd born) has a full beautifuld head of hair! No sibling rivalry there!

I remember Andre Agassi when he had long flowing hair back in the 80s on the tennis court. Then he kept the back long but the front started to go back a little bit. Finally he cut the back off and then shaved the whole thing. I think he looks so much better this way. I say if it is going to go anyway just shave it off. Maybe it would be easier that way like a band-aid just rip it off quick and it won't seem so bad vs. watching it slowly go away everyday.
