Default Locks of love

I have very long hair. I would hate to cut it off, but I was thinking of donating it to locks of love. I can't imagine the poor children that have lost their hair from an illness going through life being teased by the other children. I think this is the best thing we can do to build their self esteme.

Has anyone here donated or has known anyone that has?

I think it is very admirable of you to donate your hair like this. What a wonderful idea. I don't know anyone who has done this personally. Have only seen pictures of it on the internet somewhere.

Good luck and BLESS you!

I have considered doing this before and had a few friends who have. If I ever let my hair get long enough again, I probably will do it, but for now, I keep changing my mind about letting my hair grow out!

Good luck!

Yes, I have heard of Locks of Love, and I think it's a great idea. You cqan always grow your hair back out. Here's a tip: If you don't blow dry it or use any other heat on it or at least only use heat once in a while, it will grow back out a lot faster.

My girlfriend owns her own shop and she just cut her 4 year old daughter and her niece's hair off and they both donated it to locks of love. They were in the paper and everything. It was really cute. She also has a sign in her shop that if people want to donate their hair she will cut it for free. I think it is a great way to give something back. I mean hair does grow back and it would be fun to kinda play with a new hairstyle for a while.

I forget how long hair has to be to be able to donate it to Locks of Love. I would love to be able to do that, but I don't think that my hair is quite long enough yet.

How would you go about contacting someone to do this? My hair is definately long enough. I just had a baby and took prenatal vitamins so my hair is almost to my bottom. If anyone knows let me know and thank you.

I thought about doing this a few years back. I found all the information I needed at www.locksoflove.org.

I think hair has to be all one length and ten inches long. On the website, they give instructions on what to do and how the hair should be cut. My hair wasn't long enough or all one length.

I've even seen men on Oprah donate their long hair to Locks of Love. What a wonderful organization it is. My hair isn't long enough to donate. I have a short cut and always have. My hair's too frizzy to grow long. Ann Curry from the Today Show cut her hair for Locks of Love as well. She grew it specifically for that.

Redhead25, If you go to your salon and tell your stylist you want to do this, they will take care of it for you. You need to let them know ahead of time, otherwise they make not cut it properly to be able to donate it.
