Angry My haircut got botched, HELP!!!

Hi, I'm 19 and this is the first time I've gotten a short haircut. I showed them a picture of what I wanted and I knew it wouldn't look exactly the same cause I have a lot more hair and a higher forhead then the girl in the picture, but still...
She told me that I wouldn't like it if she cut it any shorter. My bangs had grown out so they were practically chin length and she shortened them past my nose and then told me that they were too short to do anything with and that tapering or layering my hair on the bottom more would look bad
Does anyone have any pictures/suggestions so I can get a different person to cut my hair better? My bangs are now too short to get the cut I want. I want a simple smooth/soft look and I don't like the flip in the back at all. My husband is 25 and I keep getting hit on by High Schoolers, because I look so young, so I'm trying to go for a "more mature look". LOL, I guess in the long run I'll be glad I look young.
I'm posting my hair from 2 months ago, my hair today after I got it cut, and the picture I showed the stylist.

Hi bubbliebekah!

Welcome to the forum.

I am so sorry that you were misled by your stylist. I would have told you your hair was too dense to create this look as this is obviously a style for someone with thin hair. A lot of thinning could have been done to your hair, yet I still don't think it would have worked. You just cannot replicate a style meant for thick hair on someone with thin hair and vice versa.

The flip you've experienced is from the wave in your hair and your cut falling right in that wave. Hmmm, now what huh?

I think the best way to get something close to this for you is to ask for a tapered inverted bob style. Your bangs are NOT too short believe it or not. They just can NOT be cut any more though. I've compared 74 with 77 and cannot believe the stylist thought this was anything similar to what you asked for. ei yi yi yi. And I tell people to take pictures with them all the time. FRANKLY, I would take the picture back to the salon, ask to see the manager and then ask him or her if they see where you received anything even remotely close to the picture you showed. The manager should know the quality of each stylist's work in the salon/shop. Then ask the manager to either fix the cut (btw, it should be free this time and make sure this is clear. They messed it up and they should fix it) or refer you to his/her best stylist to do an inverted bob style with this jagged tapering in the front you desired. Ask him/her if they feel they can do this. Then advise them that should you not receive a satisfactory style free of charge, you will contact the owner of the shop and possibly post a before and after picture in the local newspaper, naming the salon where the services were botched, I mean performed.

I personally never like to send home an unhappy customer and always do everything in my power to remedy any situation around me. For I know how I have felt when someone cut my hair too short or all wrong. It's an awful feeling that leaves you wanting to stay home.

Victoria Beckham's shorter Pob from last year

Now here her bangs are longer than yours are now, yet it shows the tapering some in the back which would take away your bulk you have now. And you don't have to even go this short. In fact, a designer cut could be done incorporating the tapered back and doing the jagged cut from your original pic 77.

(Seems like your stylist didn't know what he/she was doing by telling you they couldn't do this or couldn't do that)

You may like a few of these Sarah Harding styles or they may be TOO short for you.

I realize some of these are quite extreme, especially for someone who had long hair up until recently. I agree that pic you selected is quite trendy as well as very cute and stylish. Cutting it shorter is not what you probably want, however, I think some bulk taken off the back and jagged cutting the (would be) longer front sections would give you a long, inverted bob and I think you would really like it. It may not hug you quite as close as this fine, wispy hair on this model in 77, however, it will be a style just as worthy.

Let me know what you do and decide. Best of luck. Am so sorry you've been through this, but get that cut fixed!

Thanks for the ideas. I'll hopefully go back today. Another funny thing about my haircut, it's about an inch longer on the side my bangs are on. LOL. Oh, and she was obsessed with the fact that I might cry if she cut my hair short and I missed my long hair. (has this happened a lot to her???) She cut my hair like 4 times cutting off about 2 inches each time and then asking me if I was sure I wanted to cut my hair shorter and that she didn't want to see me cry over having short hair. By the end I almost wanted to yell at her, YES I do want about chin length hair. I told you that I wanted chin length hair and showed you a picture that was chin length hair, that's why I'm here... if I wanted to keep my long hair I wouldn't be here, right??? Oh, and she didn't want to cut or taper any more because of the "bubble effect"(what on earth is that) I'd get. Isn't that just more body and volume to my hair, which would probably look good on me because my forehead is a little bit tall. Wouldn't having some body and volume on and around my face help deemphasive my forehead? Sorry for the venting...
I try to give my stylist a lot of leeway, because they probably know more about hair cutting then I do. With my last haircut I told a different stylist that I wanted 6 in. off the ends and layers up to my chin and the before picture of me is right after that haircut. I'm going to try and get that girl to fix my haircut. She did an amazing job on me last time and she had a really cute short haircut so I know she understands short hair as well as long... I'll definitely post a pic after I get my hair fixed.

Hi again bubbliebekah,

I would definitely go to the girl who listened and did you hair the way you liked it last time!!!

This poor gal who just cut it sounds like she was lacking in confidence or someone just blew her up about cutting their hair too short and she was scared of that happening again. And feel free to vent, it's no problem. This is your hair and you sound like you are confident in knowing what you want.

And yes, you are correct in the volume along the sides to widen and take away from the height of the face or forehead. As for tapering causing the "bubble effect". LOL That is the terminology used for what happens to hair that has had excessive heat (blow drying or mainly metal curling irons) The bubbles form when the moisture is cooked or boiled and the bubbles form where breakage occurs and that can look like a tapered (usually a bad one cause of the uneven awful breakage) style.

Bless your heart. I do hope that other girl who cut your hair can give you what you want. As for the uneven sides. That can be the style these days. However, from what you told me about this last stylist, I think she just lacked confidence, and possibly skill. You do have enough hair left to get it the way you like it. Just praying you get the right cut this time.

Best of luck!!!! And yes, please let me know! Thanks!
