This is how I wear my hair. I have it longer in the back, but if i finger wave enough at the crown and pull the waves around the temples, it will hang straight with a "puff" of volume next to my temple.

This is good for elongating a thinner or longer face so it seems less out of proportion. Long hair hides a lot of flaws for some people. People with better bone structure can wear close or shorter cuts.
