Default In Need of a New Style, Suggestions? (Female Styles)

I've had the same hairstyle for quite a while now and I've been keeping my hair black, sometimes with bleach blonde highlights but most the time just solid black. I'm getting my senior pictures taken within the next few weeks and I'd like a new hairstyle, and possibly an interesting new highlight combination. I really do enjoy the black with thin bleach blonde highlights. This is how my hair is currently cut, only it's a couple inches longer at the moment.

I like the choppy, razored look, and I would like to have bangs for once. I also need something that is very low maintenance (preferably just be able to blow dry, but if products are needed I'd like it to be at a minimum). I could also use a suggestion on coloring, I prefer to keep it a black base, but I'd like to add some highlights. I don't mind going shorter than it is, but I don't want it too much shorter than it is in the photo.
I actually noticed this elsewhere on these forums and really like this style, would this be a simple style to do daily?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Hiya Shelby!
Welcome to the HW forum!

I probably don't have to tell you that hair color can actually give your hair more body, strength and stamina as it "fills" out each hair strand. If you go and get a GOOD razor cut, the cut along with your color should give you most of the body you need. The spiking along the crown (top) area etc., may need a little more help. However, I think you will find the majority of the maintenance is keeping the hair cut precisely and that means going every 3-6 weeks for a trim, all depending on how fast your hair grows.

You will know when it's time too as it will stop doing what it used to and won't cooperate any more for the "look" you want.

This may sound silly, however, just like the color in this pic with the drastic pure white contrasting with the turquoise, I love the look of black hair streaked with purple. I mean a deep, gorgeous shade of it.

This isn't quite as deep as I was picturing but was all I could find in a pinch.

Of course you have to picture your desired style and highlighted with that shade wherever you have place the blonde.

It would be a rad change. The razored cut with purple. Or maybe you would like blue or green? Just remember, the sections need to be bleached white first and then the deep shades of color added to that. That's how you get your truest, deepest colors.

Let me know what you think. Oh and btw, It shouldn't take much, if any, products to get your hair to behave for you. Between the razor cut, blow dry (maybe with mousse to help hold the "lift") and the shortness of that hair to be spiked, it should pretty much cooperate for you!

Let me know what you decide and PLEASE, make sure you take pics to your stylist!!!

Thanks Toni. [:

Unfortunately, I've tried purple before and it just will not hold in my hair, within a week it always fades to a reddish-brown color (I'm a natural blonde). Quite sad, because I love the purple as well. While I love the blue/bleached combo, and I should have specified this I'm sorry, I can't go crayon colors for the time being. I'm off to college in a few months, as well as have several job interviews lined up, so I think it'd be best if I stick to "natural" colors. Unless of course there's a more subtle way to toss in some color. [:

As for that style in the picture, I must say I can never get my hair to do anything other than a straight part. How do you actually attain that parting?

I believe I've decided on going with that hair style and coloring pattern, however I think I'd like to try black in place of the blue, with that same white in the picture.

However, I'm still puzzled as to the part.

A part really does not exist in this style Shelby. It just all is combed or brushed from the area that you see (on your right) from where the white hair is spiked in the crown area. It goes forward, back and down from there.

Now don't be discouraged cause it will take some "training" for your hair to get used to a part like that. The black and white sounds great and shouldn't be too shocking to professors or potential employers. They shouldn't judge a book by its cover anyway! But oh well, that's life.

Good luck with EVERYTHING. and Please let me know. I tell people that cause I mean it. It's fun to hear back about the progress and how the styles are coming. And Shelby....TAKE THAT PICTURE WITH YOU TO YOUR STYLIST! :-D

I'll just have to poke around at it and work on getting it to stay I guess.
I'll probably be getting it done in the near future, and I'll be sure to post the results once it's done. Thanks for the advice!
