Need a little help with styling :)

Hey guys. I was just wandering around aimlessly and stumbled across this site, and since I've had a problem with styling my hair for a long time, figured it couldn't hurt to ask for some advice

The thing is, I like that sharp, cool and firm looking type of styling, but all seem to be able to produce is loose, wet looking pasta-like hair

Any ideas/suggestions as far as how to create something like that (if it is possible for me at all)?
