Hello miss.roper07

Welcome to our forum and thanks for the great question!

There's a lot to consider when making a change around our face shape and yes, your glasses, keeping our hair texture in mind and the amount of time we want to spend fixing it every day. Your face appears to be almost oval yet leans to the round side, especially since your glasses widen out your face. This is probably why you have opted to wear your hair longer and straight. This is great. The slimming affects that comes from straight hair are the ideal route to go.

It's been extremely difficult to find a great shot with someone wearing glasses. However, I did find these and have the advice to go with it.

Taraji P. Henson Taraji has long, sweeping bangs, which I don't recommend for you as they will draw more attention to your glasses area. However, I want you to just look at this length. I cannot really tell from just one candid picture what your chin area is like. This is a great length if your chin is a little pointy or if it is average. Reason is, this length draws all the attention to the chin area...taking away, in your case, from the glasses, while slimming the face. I would recommend no sweeping bangs, yet all the same length.

Jennifer Hudson
Bangs would not be a good idea for you either for you see how they shorten up the face and make it more round. (She should wear shorter bangs if she really wants them and a longer bob...and that is something you can consider too as opposed to this exact look)

Rihanna For you I would recommend a longer bob, below the chin area. You seem to have a slim neck but I cannot tell much in this pic. Again the length draws attention to the area it hits and if your neck is a great feature, this is the place to cut. Preferably with no bangs. Or you could get really brave and go for this asymmetrical look Rihanna has. Her bob has a length that doesn't box in any particular features, though I'd like to see the shorter side a bit longer too.

If you already have some growing out bangs as I think I see here, it's okay, just blend them in. Framing layers around your face, may reduce the width of it, but they shouldn't start until below the eyes.

In other words, you could make a bob work for you, yes. Bangs would work great for you too if you want to fool with them every day. However, not long ones. I would get some of the deeply parted ones (if your hair is dense enough to carry them and not compromise the rest of your bob) and have them razor featherd (or maybe choppy) so you can design them with some lift. Any height along your hairline or on top of your head will elongate your face a little. So it's close to the sides, and light and airy on top.

Another way to have a light airy effect on the hairline is to add lift to the hair sweeping over from the part. Like this. Not a perfect example, yet you will get the idea of how she still has the all one length bob, yet has a little lift along the hairline to help keep her hairstyle from making her face too round looking.

I hope this has helped. If you'd like more input, post another pic of you, straight on and so I can see you neck features as well. If the explanation about bangs was not clear above, let me know about that too. I just couldn't find any pics of that right now.

I wish you well and advise you take pictures with you to the salon so the sytlist KNOWS what you want. Even if you have to show her the length with one pic and the something else from another. This helps the communication process that is so vital when it comes to our haircuts!
