Default Help!/Male Receding

Any advice? I've begun to recede now, and I'm 19 years old, you can't really tell at all with my haircut right now, it's just my hair down flat from the front on my forehead, it's still generally short overall though, I used to have long hair, I want to know if I can have long hair again like this generally

I'm not "afraid" to shave my head, I've done so before and I don't mind, but I would like to enjoy longer hair as long as I can, also, my hair isn't really thinning at all, so it won't look bad in that sense, I just want to know if I can have "bangs" I guess you can call it, the way Criss Angel's are with a receding hairline (it's not really that deep but I have a high forehead)

Thanks!

Hello mwarsi! and welcome to the forum!

Absolutely you can have long hair if you want. That is not going to make your hairline recede. (unless it was really heavy from weight that was really long) The only reason I can think of that would hinder me from recommending you go for your long style is if you have a long face as long hair drags a face down and therefore could make your face look longer.

You really should find out what is making your hairline recede like that. Do you wear a hat a lot? And when it is long enough, do you wear it back into a ponytail? Anyone who wears a ponytail and has their hair pulled tightly back will cause the hairline to slowly move back. Wearing a hat a lot keeps the scalp from breathing and getting natural Vitamin D from the sun too.

Another reason is heredity. And believe it or not, you need to check with the male relatives from your mother's side of family.

Also ingesting things not good for your body and the lack of not eating correctly, thereby not getting enough of the right vitamins.

I know, it's a lot, but basically if you are healthy and eating right to stay healthy, your hair will show it.

Good luck!!!! And go for that longer style!

You're great Toni, I really appreciate the advice, thanks a lot!!
I currently have short hair now, I used to have long hair like this,

so I suppose the consistent slicking back must have pulled it a bit, but the way it receded a bit more now is I'm sure due to a bad diet, lack of/inconsistent sleep schedules, and stress, and yes hereditary as well
I'm going to change all of that very soon and I also started putting this coconut oil in my hair every other day and shampooing it after a couple of hours to remove the oil, my mom says that will help, is it a "myth"?
And I do wear a hat because my hair is in an awkward middle stage, should I stop doing that? I also hope my face doesn't qualify as "long" then in what you were saying.
Thanks again Toni, you are REALLY very helpful, I appreciate it

So just to confirm as well, the "bangs" in the first picture will permit me to have long hair and I guess "hide" the receding area in the temples? Thanks

Hello again mwarsi !

Thanks for all the compliments! I really appreciate the support.

Yes, the bangs will definitely help camouflage your hairline. And yes, it is not a great idea to wear a hat a lot. As for the coconut oil, this is your home remedy for conditioning and it's a great idea for dry, stressed or overworked hair or for people who work outdoors.

Our scalps are what needs attention whenever there is a receding line or bald spot. It's all about stimulating blood flow to the hair follicles. If you actually massage your scalp, especially along the top of your forehead as well as those life changes you plan to make, all this will help. Better health, better for our bodies and these things show in our hair believe it or not.

No, you do not have a long face. In fact you have more of a square shaped face and the longer hair with bangs will hide all corner points. However, do not be concerned as there is nothing wrong with a good, square jawline.

Grow your hair hair and in the meantime, take care of yourself, eat healthy, forget the hat, massage that scalp and search for a pic that you can take to salon featuring a style you can wear now with bangs to get you started.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Again, I really appreciate it Toni, you're helping out a lot of people here and giving me quality advice I really have not been able to find anywhere else

I am definitely going to keep consistent with implementing certain life changes, not only for my hair, but for my health as well, but as you said it will show in my hair which I'm glad for ! And I will keep in mind massaging my scalp and stimulating blood flow, a quick question though...Can I do the Oil then Shampoo routine everyday? Or will that be too much for my hair? I will also restrict my hat wearing.
I was planning to go to the salon to get a touch up on messy areas in the back and maybe even out some portions as my hair is growing out from a faux hawk, but my hair is still generally short so I won't expect any drastic changes, however, would these pictures work as the "bangs" I am speaking of?

Thanks again Toni!

Yes, these bangs will work just fine.

AS for doing the oil routine daily, please know that while this may be a conditioning application, coconut oil has lots of protein and too much of this will be overload for your hair. It has many healing and preventive effects when ingested, (so you could add it to your diet for health) however, once or twice a week will be great for your hair. You could leave it wrapped and wear overnight on protected pillowcase, then shampoo in the morning. The oil will seal your ends, make your hair stronger and is believed to restore any hair loss so it IS a great method overall.

Yes, do try not to wear your hat, it is working against you. If you wear it cause it is windy, only wear it while you are running around outside. Take it off often. Your scalp needs the sunshine and it especially needs to breathe.

Great idea having your hair shaped up. Please keep in mind that as you are growing it out AND after it is the length you want it, get regular trims to avoid any split ends.

Good luck!!!!
