Default zig-zag part

I don't know if they're still really in style, but I really like how they look. I've never been able to do them. I need an extra set of hands. How do you make a zig-zag part? If I do the part when my hair is wet, it's gone by the time my hair is dry. I can't find the shape if I try when my hair is dry. I would love to be able to do it all the way from front to back too, but just a small zig-zag on the side is enough.

Default ZigZag Parts

Hi Crissy,

Want to welcome you to the forum. Don't believe I have done so yet!

As for your zigzag part. If you are able to part it when your hair is wet, then spritz it a little right along the part with some hair spray to hold it in while your hair dries.

I realize this will work well if you let your hair dry naturally. Should you need to blow your hair dry, this can still help, just allow the hairspray and part area to dry a little by turning dryer down to low and working back and forth along the part first. Continue with your blow dry and you should be all set.

Thank you. I think spraying with hairspray should do the trick. Air drying isn't bad as long as I blow my bangs or they just end up looking dirty.

How deep should I make the zigzag?

Usually the depth is a personal preference. However, I feel that the density of your hair and size of your face and head determine it best. Smaller features, smaller zigzag, and vice versa.

Have fun!

I went to a salon a few years back and asked about that. The sylist had no idea what I was talking about. I like to make my part in the middle uneven. It gives my hair style and lift.

I'm such a dweeb. I tried to do a zigzig yesterday and still cannot get the gist of it. I look better with a side instead of middle part and I used to be able to do the part just not get it to stay. Now I can't even get it to part.

I enjoy the zig-zag part. It puts different parts of my hair on different sides of my head. It gives it a little dimension too. I usually part my hair off center but not way over to the side either. I just start from the back and just like it says zig-zag toward the front and then I lift my comb up and seperate the hair to the side it goes on according to the part. Then I finish my hair after the part and after my hair is all dry too.

I hope it is still in style because I still part my hair with a zip-zag part too. I think it gives my hair a little lift since I have very straight, think hair. I will do anything for more volume.
