Default how to condition

I know that you're only supposed to condition the ends of your hair. But what if your conditioner is to extend the life of your color or add body? Or what if your hair tangles too easily if you don't condition the whole thing? I'm sure there are lots of reasons to condition your whole hair. What's the best way to condition?

OOO! I like this question. I have very fine hair that I absolutely have to condition, but am afraid to over condition.

I want to piggyback another question on to yours. Should you comb conditioner through your hair while you're still in the shower and then rinse it out?

Default How I condition

I usually put conditioner only on my ends, but about once a week I will put it all over my hair. My sister sometimes puts lotion in her hair. I've never done that, but her hair is really dry. I know many old ladies put mayo in their hair!

Ok I saw on another thread that you are supposed to shampoo a certain way and now I have to condition a certain way too? This hair thing is getting way to confusing lol I just slap the shampoo in and rinse and then slap the conditioner in and rinse that out. I do my whole head too when I condition. All these rules. I is no wonder I don't shave my whole head but then I would have to take care of my scalp and I am sure I would do that wrong too.

One tip I have heard about is to comb your hair with a wide tooth comb to get out tangles before you put the conditioner on your hair. Plus remember to keep the conditioner on your hair for about 5 minutes.

This doesn't make sense to me. If I tried to get a comb through my hair BEFORE I put the conditioner on it, no matter how gently I moved that comb, I would be bald. The conditioner on the hair helps get the comb through the hair. You're combing the conditioner through the hair.

And why keep it on for five minutes unless the conditioner you're using specifies to do so?

Default Excessive need for conditioners

Yes, it would be bad for the tangled, wet shampooed hair to get combed before you put the needed conditioner in. If you need conditioner all the time due to excess tangles, then you won't get a comb through your wet hair. Sometimes, it is necessary to comb the conditioner through to get the maximum effect from those conditioners.

However, I must say, if your hair tangles easily and badly and you have to depend on conditioning to comb your wet hair, to brush your dry hair (which I do hope this is how you deal with your hair) or to style it at all, then these are all warnings that you have hair damage.

Split ends begin the process of hair starting to tangle and become a problem. Getting them trimmed regularly takes care of this. However, some folks put these trims off for one reason or another, their hair starts to split up the hair shaft and the tangling is immense. The only solution is to cut hair even shorter.

I suggest you keep the ends trimmed as the splits won't go away no matter what you keep on them. If you don't, you will have more than ends to cut off.
