Thankfully we live in a free country, where freedom of s***ch, music choice and how we wear our hair is totally to our discretion. However, we also have freedom of opinions and I'd love to hear from anyone who has one concerning this.
While it's true that rock musicians are synonymous to long hair, at what age or point in life should a guy decide he should really get a hair cut? Even if it is to bring it up to shoulder length perhaps with some sort of a style? Cultures such as Native Americans are accepted to carry this hair length for life. Can anyone tell me what nationality Iggy Pop is? I know he was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. And just so you know, he will turn 60 in April. His hard life has certainly taken its toll. ![]()

Oh dear his act is tired. If he's so cleaned up why can't he stand to act his age? Even Mick Jagger doesn't look this dated. I always wonder when famous addicts get over their excesses but live the same lifestyle. it isn't a kind one for an aging man to wear at all.

His life has definitely taken its toll... to be honest, I don't think any haircut would help much, but he probably could do with a cut. Maybe something shorter but still shaggy? Something like a Mick Jagger cut?
On another note, does he ever wear a shirt? ![]() Eww. |

Ugh! I have always been a fan of the short cuts. However, when a guy goes long I can understand. But, after the age of 50 I think it's about time to give yourself a whack. Unless you're going for that tired out hippy kind of look. Not good.

I understand Iggy wanting to maintain some sort of a "look". And I agree with looneytoons that he could still wear a longer style just some layering into a shag or a blunt cut layer that's messy. His hair looks dirty and if you are going to wear your hair longer, you have to take care of it. This is not a signature that is flattering.
And no, I don't think he wears a shirt, though he should. We all have to face it when we are too old to wear those things we used to.

I don't mind the hair that much. I mean there are thousand of hairstyles and everyone has different tastes, so I say to each his own on the hair, but that bare chested look just does not work for him at all. Those veins look like they are about to pop, then he really would be "Iggy Pop", literally.

Hi Librarian and WELCOME to you here at the Hair Forum. Wanted to write a quick line to say that I agree with you that every has their different taste with to each his own. I think I enjoy assessing hairstyles too much. I personally have never hated long hair on a guy. In fact on some, it is nice and sometimes looks better. I have to keep the comment about keeping it clean though. That's not too much to ask.

I think men should cut their hair when they have a MULLET. I think those are the worst hairstyles out there!! It's one of those styles that I have never liked from the get go.
