Default Shampoo for oily hair?

Anyone have recommendations for a shampoo for oily hair? It use to be that I could find plenty of shampoos meant for oily hair but in recent years it seems they have disappeared off the shelves. When I went to Sally's, I could only find one shampoo for oily hair. I would like to find a good shampoo for my oily hair.

There was a thread in here about baby shampoo stripping the oil out of hair. Maybe you could use just a little bit with your regular shampoo. But if you wash every day I would use it every day, unless you have really oily hair.

I have noticed shampoos that still are for oily hair. I had to use those when I was in high school. I guess it was those aweful teen hormones. Since, I don't get oily hair luckily. I think checking out a beauty supply store or a salon may be your best answer. Good luck.

I have Aussie's Dual Personality Root Cleanser + Tip Mender in my rotation. Herbal Essences has shampoos and conditioners for oilier hair too. There's refreshing clean and deep cleansing.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have tons of baby shampoo and will try that. The Herbal Essences products look like something I'll give a try, too.

I'll check out Sally's again for oily hair products. Last time I looked I found nothing but that's been a while.

I just wanted to put out a red flag on baby shampoos. They are formulated to have a pH that is gentle to the eyes' tear ducts. This is why they are so safe to use on our precious little ones. Good thing it is only used for a temporary amount of time on their hair. See the pH that is good for the tear ducts is BAD for the hair. So when you think about it being gentle, it is gentle to the eyes, not the hair.

Someone said it is good for grease cause her husband uses it on his car engines. Now that may see good for oily hair to you but to me it emphasizes its harshness.

For shampooing only hair, any good shampoo is going to wash out the excess oils in your hair. The TRICK is NOT to massage the scalp much at all. I know it feels great, however, it is defeating the purpose of keeping the oil off the hair shaft. Definitely use the pads of your fingertips here, NO NAILS. You don't want to stimulate the oil glands and this is what causes the oil to quickly reappear onto the hair. Keep those oil glands as quiet as possible, do not wake them up. : )
