Porous hair can drink up lotion in the ends and lotion will tame down the flyaways.
Shampoostyler is correct in saying that some hair conditioners are not good for your hair and you'd be better off using a good lotion to help your problem. After all, conditioning your hair is temporary too until the next shampoo. What is a good lotion? Hmm, I need to research the ingredients on different brand names. Cocoa Butter can be good on the ends. (someone else mentioned this already...credit is theirs : ) Slathering on this cocoa butter all over your hair will make you look like a grease monkey though cause it is rich and thick. A tiny amount dipped on the ends only will help them if they are dried up. If you are trying to fix split ends though, please keep them trimmed. Nothing short of this will help splits. And stay away from products that have alcohol. The first ingredient listed on ANY product (hair and everything else in this world) is what that product has the most of. The further down the list, the less amount it will have of that ingredient. Alcohol, while essential for drying the product, also drys your hands, your hair, etc. So staying away from this is best overall. That is why the perfumes, as someone here was correct to bring up, are not good ideas. Let your perfume be your perfume and stay away from products that are scented.

So the lotion I have been trying for about a week now seems to be helping a bit. I'm using Lubriderm Seriously Sensitive for extra dry skin. Says it's Lanolin, dye and fragrance free, and of course, no alcohol.

I flyaways are the issue a finishing spray is needed. Or spray hairspray onto your BRUSH ad then brush through the top layers. I do not miss having short hair and all the flyaways would make a fuzzy halo. i hated that.
or touch your fingertips into some balm and then sweep your hands over the head about one or two inches away from scalp. The balm will "catch" them, then press them down. |

I have a lemon lotion that works good for this. I tell my friends to take it with them on beach trips. The shea butter and the emollients can rescue hair until the next deep conditioning.
The problem is, when on vacatin you'll spend all day in the chlorine or salt water then wash and blow and curl and heat style your hair. By the end of vacation, the hair is messed UP. If you've spent a fortune keeping your hair up, don't let unwillingness to use a handful of lotion to wrap your hair up cause damage that will cost hundreds of dollars to recover from. |

Nivea is probably the best to use on your hair when it comes to hair lotion. Nivea is like a moisturizing cream and it does wonders by protecting your hair from the sun.
