Default Detangling Suggestions

After my daughter gets out of the bath her hair is a bear to get through. I don't want to torture the child by having it hurt everytime I comb her hair but it obviously need to be brushed. Any suggestions for a good detangling product that I can put in her hair to make life a little easier after the bath?

I and some other members on the board have talked about Thermasilk leave-in conditioner detangler. You spray it on towel dried hair before you gently comb through. Pantene also has a light spray conditioner detangler, but it doesn't detangle as well for me.

Stylin do you mean for a young child or an older child who can take care of their hair themselves? I know they make children's detangler that is made my Johnson and Johnson's that might be an idea if it is for a younger child. You spray it on towel dried hair and then comb it out. It seems to work pretty well. Otherwise like Michelle said there is the Thermasilk she was talking about for someone maybe older. But they definitely make specific products for kids.

Oh Shorty! I didn't even think of Johnson and Johnson's. I had those kinds of detanglers when I was little. And boy did I need them. I had super long hair that was always tangled.

Thumbs up Detangling

I really like the spray leave-in conditioner from Herbal Essences. It is important to wait until your hair is DRY, then spray in the detangler, and work from the ends up. I find if I try to tackle knots when my hair is wet, it gets knotted worse and breaks.

I also try to tackle knots BEFORE I wash it, because if you get the knots wet, it makes them worse. Sometimes I'll just work a handful of regular conditioner in before I wash it and work on the tangles (like, if I've been out in the wind with my hair down.) The added benefit is this works like a deep conditioner and your hair is really soft once you do wash it!

I also use the spray-conditioner as a setting lotion. Apply to slightly damp or dry hair, put in your rollers or (I do little braids for a mermaid look) let it dry, and the waves/curls last all day, no crunchy product necessary!
