I think I've tried every hairspray on the market. OK, that's a complete exaggeration, but you get the point. I've used Bed Head and Kenra, Pantene and TRESemme. I like Big ***y Hair because of the name. But none of these products hold. They'll make my hair stiff, but not hold a style. What's the secret?

I am with you I think I have tried everything. I totally know what you mean with hairspray leaving your hair really stiff. I hate it. I would love to find something like you are describing. But have not come across it yet. Right now I am just using whatever is on sale when I go to the store. I don't use a lot of hairspray so whatever is on sale will do for now.

You guys missed the solution. It's Sebasten hair shaper hair shaper pro. Ths stuff is great. Not too drying, and a little works. But the thing is you can shape your har, it does not go to peanut brittle hard.
You can spray and then run your fingers thru your hair and style. |

Sebastien is good but it is liek 20 busk for hairspray. i can't really afford that. but i guess you pay the price in conditioner. A little tiny purse spray is 9 bucks at my salon. Smells like a light cologne.

To all of you looking for a bargain when you buy your hairsprays, look for a product that states it is touchable/brushable, etc. Hairsprays that coat the outer layers with stiffening spray only help to damage it. We can have hold and still be able to touch our hair. As for your Big, ***y Hair there pigtails, here are a few things I hope helps. Am not sure what exactly your style is or how long your hair is. However, I have found for volume, self sticking velcro rollers in dry hair with the "root" area sprayed with hairspray helps for work on building up the "foundation". (I'd like to back up and stress product along the scalp area anyway for that all imporant base build-up) Make sure all curls are cooled completely before styling curled hair. Once you start styling your hair, concentrate your hair spraying on the scalp area hair. If you want your hair to stand up or out, that foundation needs to be strong. Spray in small areas and the stiffness should not build up as it would if you kept spraying and spraying. Yet, the spray will be there to do its job. Keep experimenting to find what's best for your own unique hair and Good Luck! Let us know how it's coming along.

I bought some rollers a year ago with some stiff bristly brushes in them, i was so excited they really held the rollers in when rolled up.
But the next day i could literally not get my hair out of them. I had to leave for work and i was ripping my hair out of these rollers just to leave the house. The damage to the ends of my hair was insane. These must have been for short hair or something. |

Matrix Sleek Look aerosol is a very good hold harispray, but its techincally for straight hair. When using this product, its best to put it in before and after you curl and it will work like a charm.

I have fine, flyaway hair and it looks pretty good when I fix it right so I want it to stay. If I don't use the hairspray, it blows around and doesn't look like I did anything to it, even if I comb or brush it again. So I have to use the hairspray and it can be overdone, even with the most expensive, good sprays that claim "touchable". It's not going to be natural and touchable, if you've sprayed enough layers to make it decoupage. LOL
