I have a friend that is a penny pincher on just about everything, including hair products. All she ever uses is Suave strawberry shampoo and conditioner. She keeps urging me to try it but the last time I tried it years ago I just didn't like it all. I am regular user of Pantene and Herbal Essence, and I just don't see why I should switch (except for price of course). She claims Suave is actually better for your hair and gives better results. Anyone know if that is true? Is there some secret ingredient they have now added that has made them better?

Yes, I have used suave products for years but I don't think it's moisturizing enough to use as my regular shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes, I use the Suave conditioner for condition wash. Also, I use the Suave clarifying shampoo.

As a single mom I have to look for budget items at times. I mean I would love to buy Paul Mitchell products all the time but that is definitely out. I have tried just about every cheapy out there (White Rain, Vo5, store brand) and Suave does seem to be the leader of the cheapies
, but I cannot answer if it is better for your hair than the more pricier ones. I do know it tends to weigh my hair down, but it is better than the other low priced Shampoos. The smell is not too bad either as long as you stay away from the coconut.

They're okay for the price you will pay for them, but if you want better results, I would go with another products. Suave shampoo tends to dry the hair out and the conditioner doesn't add as much body to the hair, making it harder to manage.
